Student Teaching

Students must successfully complete the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Art Education Examination prior to student teaching. Information about the examination is available in the Educational Partnerships and Experiences, Room 221 Education. Your student teaching placement will be arranged through the Educational Partnerships and Experiences. Student teaching contacts occur during the fall and winter semesters. PLEASE NOTE: PA 19 of 2003 passed by the Michigan Legislature

Amends PA 451, as section 1531d, to require that the State Superintendent of Public Instruction shall NOT issue an initial teaching certificate unless the person presents satisfactory evidence of successfully completing a course in first aid and in CPR and holds valid certification in these topics.

All coursework must be completed before registering for Student teaching. Students must take and pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Visual Arts Education Examination prior to student teaching.

  • TED 5780 - Directed Teaching and Conference 5 Cr.

1/2 day clinical placement at the elementary or secondary level to meet State K - 12 certification requirements.

  • TED 5790 - Student Teaching & Conference for Special Groups 8 Cr.

Full day clinical placement at the level, elementary or secondary, you wish to teach full time.
