Biography

Dr. Somers is a Professor in Educational Psychology--she directs the School & Community Psychology M.A. program and the graduate and undergraduate Applied Behavior Analysis programs. She is also the Assistant Dean of the TBF division. She serves on a number of committees and advises many doctoral and master’s students' research.  Her research is focused primarily on understanding the roles of parents, peers, media, and schools as predictors of successful adolescent outcomes, including academic achievement, social and emotional development, and physical and sexual health, including reducing or avoiding unhealthy risk behaviors. Her studies primarily involve basic inferential research as well as evaluation of interventions.
