High Five Literacy Program

Looking for Help in Reading and Writing for your Children?

The High Five Literacy Program at Wayne State University is open to students in first through eighth grade. The program will provide free tutoring in reading and writing skills one day a week from October through April of each academic year. Tutors are graduate students completing a master's program in reading under the supervision of faculty in the Reading, Language, and Literature program.

Program Dates

  • Dates: October through April of each academic year
  • Time: 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Sessions are held on the main campus of Wayne State University in Room 30 on the lower level of the College of Education Building.

Upon acceptance to the program, applicants will be contacted with the start date of the program.

Registration

The program can accommodate a limited number of students, therefore, students will be selected on a first-come, first serve basis. Students who are not selected will be placed on a waiting list until the next opening is available for each academic year. Applicants must reapply each school year.
