Welcome Back Students!
I hope your summer was productive and enjoyable. The Office of Field Experience has been busy this summer. This year marked the 3rd Annual New Literacies Conference and it was a huge success. The conference hosted over 20 presenters from all over the state and all were well received. A huge thank you to all those involved in this great project.
We also have made major improvements to our online presence. You can now find us on Twitter and Facebook. Our staff is committed to helping students stay connected to popular trends in technology and we recognize the benefits of social media accounts. Our hope is to use these online tools to help reach out to students and allow more interaction between the Office of Field Experience and our customers. The links to these new sites can be found under the Contacts page.
I would also like to welcome Dean Shields to her new position as Dean of the College of Education. Prior to her appointment at Wayne State, Dean Shields had been a professor and head of Educational Organization and Leadership in the College of Education at The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She has received recognition for both her teaching and her career contributions to the field of Educational Leadership. We welcome Dean Shields and wish her continued success.
Be sure to check the events page for important details regarding the upcoming Student Teaching Seminars, orientation dates and all other events relative to the Office of Field Experiences. Congratulations to those of you who are student teaching this semester. The hard work you have put in to reach this point is now paying off. It won’t be long now before you are assigned to your own classroom as a certified teacher. Have a safe and fun semester… GO WARRIORS!
