Education Specialist Certificate: Majors & Admission Process

The Teacher Education Division offers a number of education specialist programs at the elementary and secondary levels. These certificate programs are designed to strengthen the educational background of teachers, administrators, and other education professionals.

The Education Specialist Certificate program is a 30 credit minimum curriculum beyond the master's degree. It is a self-contained concentration, separate from other existing programs, with a distinct form of recognition at its completion. This is a planned program, not merely recognition for 30 credits of graduate study accrued beyond the master's degree.

The Education Specialist Certificate is designed to strengthen the professional education of teachers and will be awarded to a candidate who completes a 30 hour planned program in one area of Bilingual/Bicultural Education.
