Education Specialist Certificate

The Counselor Education program at Wayne State University offers the Education Specialist Certificate with a major in Counseling. This program is intended for those who are presently counseling professionals who want to improve their competence in counseling, and/or receive formal training in clinical supervision of counselors. Since this is a professional certificate program, persons making application should confirm that they have the prerequisite education, counseling experience, and professional licensure requirements prior to making formal application. The Education Specialist Certificate does not meet eligibility requirements for the Professional Counselor Licensure in the State of Michigan.

The Education Specialist Certificate with a major in Counseling program offers a choice of three concentrations:

  1. Community Agency, Substance Abuse, or School Counseling Advanced Clinical Training.
  2. Formal Clinical Counseling Supervision Training.
