Spring/Summer Enrollment Requirement for Graduate Assistants
For a number of years it has been our policy to require graduate assistants on 12-month contracts to enroll for a minimum of one graduate credit during the spring/summer semester to demonstrate continuous academic progress. Given that there are other indicators that measure academic progress and recognizing that the enrollment requirement often presents a burden to a graduate assistant because of the limited availability of courses offered during the spring/summer, this policy is changing effective immediately. Graduate students who hold graduate assistant appointments during the spring/summer semester will no longer be required to enroll during that semester unless during that semester the student will be taking a qualifying examination, defending a thesis, prospectus or dissertation.
