There are far less enjoyable ways to earn money than being a lifeguard and/or teaching swimming. In addition to learning lifesaving/water rescue skills, students in the Lifeguard Training course will become Certified in Basic Life Support/CPR and Standard Red Cross First Aid. Completion of LFA 1190 leads to lifeguard training certification. Completion of LFA 1200 leads to Water Safety Instructor certification.
Intermediate/advanced swimming skills are a prerequisite to these courses.
The instructor, Pete Roberts, was for many years the varsity swimming coach at Wayne State, and has been a leader in the development and implementation of Red Cross aquatics safety and instructional programs in Michigan.
