Welcome To Exercise and Sport Science
This major is designed for students who are interested in pursuing employment in the field of Exercise and Sport Science.
The undergraduate Exercise and Sport Science Track is designed to prepare self-directed students who desire a specialized background to pursue goals in professional or graduate level study in the broad field of exercise and sport science. The program educates students for careers in adult fitness, corporate fitness settings, exercise physiology, athletic training, cardiac and physical rehabilitation, entrepreneurial pursuits in the fitness/wellness business world, etc. Additional postgraduate work and/or certification may be needed for some areas within this specialization.
The specialization in the Kinesiology Master of Education degree is designed to prepare students for careers in areas such as exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, sport psychology, and motor control/development/learning, and measurement and evaluation.
Exercise physiologists tend to specialize into clinical areas such as cardiac rehabilitation, research based exercise physiology {such as performance and heat stress, performance and altitude, fluid balance, intracellular lactate mechanisms, motor functions, and plasticity of muscle fibers}, exercise testing and prescription of athletes, and development of physical fitness programs in prevention of disease and disability.

- Apply NOW for GO-GIRL Summer Academies 2012
- May 16 2012Towers Residential SuitesFormer GO-GIRLs in grades 7-12 are invted to attend ONE of two summer residential academies. The theme of the acdamies is "Just Breath" and will focus on careers related to air quality and related health issues. During each academy, girls will attend an opening dinner reception with parents on Sunday evening. Girls will spend the next 3 days on campus guided by an undergraduate student mentor attending Wayne State University. After the academies girls will stay connected to their mentor coach via social media during the up coming academic year. The Academies are offered at no cost to participants. The deadline for applications is May 31st. The Academy dates are: Academy 1: Sunday, June 17th- Wednesday, June 20thAcademy 2: Sunday, August 19th- Wednesday, August 22nd

- May 21 2012 at 3:00 PMCollege of EducationIf you have a bachelor's degree in a field other than Education and would like to become a certified teacher, we invite you to attend an information meeting to learn more about the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) and Post-Bachelor Certification Programs at WSU. Attendees must possess or be within one year of completing a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university. Please bring legible copies of all transcripts to the Education Building, Room 300, 3rd floor.
