Students may choose to enhance their competencies and job opportunities by constructing plans of work with a double emphasis that combines any two of the following.
Performance Improvement & Training
Designed for those interested in working as instructional designers or performance technologists in business, industrial, health care, higher education, military and government settings.
Backgrounds: Relevant undergraduate degrees from a variety of areas such as Business Administration, Nursing, Psychology, Education, or Speech. Students may also have experience in training design, but now wish to learn more about non-training interventions to solve performance problems.
K-12 Technology Integration
Designed for those interested in technology integration into the classroom and applying principles of Instructional Technology in school settings. It is relevant to careers as classroom teachers, media specialists, technology coordinators, school administrators, and other specialized school personnel.
Backgrounds: Undergraduate degrees in an area of education are the most common.
**Note: This program does not lead to teacher certification; however, with additional coursework, certification can be obtained from the teacher education program within the College.
Interactive Technologies
Designed for those interested in working with the design and development of advanced technologies or as an e-learning specialist.
Backgrounds: Relevant undergraduate degrees from a variety of areas such as Computer Science, Psychology, Education, or Speech. Competence in basic computer operation, Microsoft® Windows operations, and file management are needed.
Instructional Design
Designed for those interest in obtaining employment or advancement in non-school settings specifically in the area of instructional design.
Backgrounds: Relevant undergraduate degrees from a variety of areas such as Business, Nursing, Psychology, Education, English or Speech.
